New DTWO interview highlights DHI’s perspective on the future of offshore wind digital twins

Mon 03 Aug 2026

The DTWO interview series continues with a new conversation featuring Pedro Santos, DHI, one of the project’s partners, who shares insights into the role that digital twins can play in supporting the next generation of offshore wind energy systems.

In the interview, the discussion focuses on the importance of combining advanced modelling, high-quality data and interdisciplinary expertise to improve decision-making throughout the offshore wind lifecycle. From planning and design to operation and maintenance, digital twins have the potential to help stakeholders better understand complex systems, optimise performance and increase the resilience of offshore wind farms.

The conversation also explores how the DTWO project is developing a federated digital twin framework, allowing different models, tools and datasets to work together while preserving data ownership and security. This collaborative approach is one of the project’s defining features, enabling partners to integrate their expertise into a common ecosystem without compromising sensitive information.

As a partner in the DTWO consortium, DHI contributes its expertise in advanced modelling and digital technologies, helping to develop innovative solutions that support more efficient, reliable and sustainable offshore wind operations.
