DTWO at EUROMECH Colloquium on Turbulent Wind-Farm Dynamics

Thu 07 May 2026

DTWO is pleased to announce the participation of  Sebastiano Stipa and  Wim Munters  from the Von Karman Institute as speakers at EUROMECH Colloquium 669: Recent Advances in Turbulent Wind-Farm Dynamics, which took place in London from 22–24 April 2026.

The event brought together leading researchers, engineers, and industry experts for a 2-day colloquium to address key scientific and technological challenges associated with the rapid expansion of offshore wind energy across Europe.

Discussions were held on wind-farm wake dynamics, atmospheric turbulence, high-fidelity simulations, and next-generation modelling approaches for resilient and efficient offshore wind systems.

As part of the conference programme, DTWO experts gave two presentations, respectively, on validating a three-year high-resolution mesoscale simulation of a multi-gigawatt offshore wind farm cluster with lidar and satellite observations and on coupled wave-atmosphere effects on the wake of offshore wind farm clusters.

“When comparing to offshore measurements, our models can capture the regional impact that multi-gigawatt wind farms have on wind and wave conditions.”  – Wim Munters on his presented research for DTWO.

The participation of DTWO at EUROMECH 669 highlights the project’s commitment to fostering collaboration between the scientific community and industry stakeholders working toward a more sustainable and data-driven offshore energy future.
