DTWO at WindEurope 2025: championing innovation in offshore wind

Mon 14 Apr 2025

At the Danish Pavilion, Santos engaged with visitors at the DHI stand and shared insights about the DTWO project, highlighting its innovative approach to offshore wind development.

Reflecting on the event, Santos remarked: “The future of wind energy lies in science-based innovation — in modelling offshore wind scenarios and integrating nature-based solutions to monitor and preserve biodiversity.”

Santos also emphasized the importance of stronger support for research and innovation: “One of the key takeaways from the session on R&I is the need to increase the share of European funding for wind energy. Currently, nuclear receives nearly double the funding of wind and solar combined. Another important aspect discussed at the meeting is a stronger focus on bringing innovation to market, which DTWO aims to achieve via its federated digital twin platform.”

WindEurope is one of the year’s most influential events in the wind energy sector with over 1500 participants, 550 companies, 70 sessions and 350 speakers.

This year’s WindEurope 2025 took place at a critical moment, as Europe faces unprecedented competitiveness and energy security challenges. During the event, the wind industry issued the ‘Copenhagen Call for Action’, urging governments to take three concrete steps: fully implement the EU’s streamlined permitting rules, remove barriers to electrification, and de-risk wind investments with robust two-sided Contract for Difference auctions.

The next event, WindEurope 2026, will be held in Madrid. In the meantime, experts will gather in June for the WindEurope Technology Workshop 2025 in Istanbul, where DTWO will also be represented with a poster presentation. Stay tuned!
