DTWO project coordinator, Professor Xiaoli Larsén of DTU Wind and Energy Systems, recently presented the DTWO project at the Conference and the International Energy Agency (IEA) Wind Technology Collaboration Programme. The presentation took place as part of Topical Expert Meeting #112, a side event of the North American Wind Energy Academy (NAWEA) Conference.
At the IEA meeting in New Brunswick, New Jersey, USA, professor Larsén presented DTWO alongside another significant project, underscoring the contributions of both initiatives to the wind energy sector. DTWO’s mission is to develop a federated digital twin that enables forecasting of offshore wind energy production—a tool that Professor Larsén described as a “life simulation” experience for users involved in wind farm projects.
“DTWO’s final product will be a federated digital twin for key components in offshore wind energy forecasting,” said Professor Larsén. “We aim to provide users with an immersive digital environment, like a life simulation game, to help them build and optimize their projects. Through interactions with Destination Hearth Digital Twin, DTWO will integrate wind turbines and wind farms into the forecasting process, with the resulting data incorporated into specialized digital twin modules for specific applications.”
The Topical Expert Meetings play a crucial role in initiating conversations about emerging technical and scientific developments, identifying information needs, and catalyzing new research initiatives.
