Von Karman Institute for Fluid Dynamics
About the organisation
The institute founded in 1956 and located in Sint-Genesius-Rode, Belgium, is a non-profit organization specializing in aeronautics, aerospace, environmental and applied fluid dynamics, and turbomachinery. Proposed by Professor Theodore von Kármán and his team in 1955, the institute was designed to provide training and research opportunities in aerodynamics for engineers and scientists from NATO countries. It aims to promote international collaboration and understanding in these technical fields. The institute was established in facilities that were formerly part of the Belgian Civil Aviation Authority's aeronautical laboratory.

Formerly known as DONG Energy, is a Danish multinational energy company headquartered in Fredericia, Denmark. It rebranded from DONG to Ørsted a decade ago, when they transitioned from a black (oil and gas) to a green energy focus. The company develops, constructs, and operates offshore and onshore wind farms, solar farms, energy storage facilities and bioenergy plants. Ørsted is the world’s largest developer of offshore wind power. It has set targets for net-zero generation by 2025 and zero carbon emissions by 2040.
European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts

The institute will collaborate across several key modules: Grids (Interconnectivities and Energy Systems), Turbine (Health Monitoring and Reliability Forecasting), Wakes (Inter- and Intra-Farm Interactions), and Siting (Resource Assessment, Design, and Environmental Considerations).

About the organisation
Provides leading forecasting and optimization solutions for the energy sector, serving utilities, energy traders, and transmission and distribution operators. Established in 2006 as a spin-off from the Technical University of Denmark, ENFOR specializes in forecasting renewable energy production, electricity and heat demand, and optimizing district heating systems. Its solutions include forecasting for wind and solar power, electricity prices, demand, and smart charging for electric vehicles. ENFOR has a strong global track record and is rooted in over 25 years of research at DTU, focusing on energy systems, AI, statistics, and advanced modelling techniques.
Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute

Role in the project
The work will span several key modules, including Grids (Interconnectivities and Energy Systems), Final DTWO Platform Architecture and Integration, the Scientific Integration Module, Turbine (Health Monitoring and Reliability Forecasting), and the Federated Architecture of the Digital Twins Platform.
